Good Morning, Levermen......

Post by BlaineCGarverakaTubbyTuba »

A fine almost dry morning in the Great North Wet. Looking forward to the weekend and some last minute loading and sighting in befor the rifle season opens on blacktail next week. So far, all the 45-70s seem to like THE LOAD and I just want to make sure. It'll be nice if I don't have to do three different loads for the GS, CB and BFR. The .444, 30WCF and '06 are ready to go, too, so I'm not worried about something to hunt with. Sure would like to see a bear this year for a change. Have a fun and safe weekend 8)

I'm envious. Our deer season is still more than a month away.

The Deer Tag I drew in CA this year is for Zone X-1 and the opening day for that zone is this Saturday 6 Oct 2007. The way I figure it is that I'll get up at 3:00AM Saturday morning, be on the road by 3:30AM, be near my hunting spot (40 miles away) by 4:30AM, hike into my exact hunting spot by 5:45AM and be ready by first light and take my deer no later than 7:30AM to 9:00AM. Optomistic??? Naawwwww - just confident from having lived here for years and knowing the habits/travels of deer in the area where I'll be hunting. Now as for the out-of-towners -- they'll have to work pretty hard to find deer but some (maybe most) of them will be successfu while some will go home with only the memories of a good camping experience.

Good luck to all who are hunting this year!!!

Doesn't look like I'm going to get to go hunting this year. Might be able to find a day here or there, but nothing planned or extended. Still need to work up some loads for my 45-90. Haven't even had a chance to shoot it yet. :(

Have a great hunt Tubby! Friend of mine just got back from Sled Springs here in Oregon, and showed me pictures of the nice cinnamon colored black bear his young daughter shot there!-Vall

Three weekends of buck, two weekends of elk, and then a thursday-Sunday late buck. I think bear lasts thru the end of elk, because it's not open for late buck. Usually see a few grouse driving around, too......
