No rubber so a real bone shaker only thing that would be better is wooden wheels.

That definitely doesn't look like a cushy plush ride. Now you need to work at putting together some wooden wheels for it. It'd be really cool to see you put one together complete like that.

we look at that as a tough ride, but the people riding them grew up in the saddle and riding buckboards. I doubt they noticed the seat as much as we do . . .

I rebuilt my old (1970's) ten speed. But... am scared to ride it along my gravel road! I'm not sure I have the ability to keep it upright as much! And it seems silly to load it in the truck to haul up to town to ride around...

I hear ya Griff we live on a dirt road also, there`s a paved bike trail that starts in town seven miles away but i hardly leave the place anymore.
It`s all about fixing up old things for me just to look at.

They're gearing up for our end of the month anniversary of the founding of the city we live in. As part of that they're going all out to decorate with things reminiscent of our history, including a very well done Willys Jeep loaded like they were moving to another farm. And lo and behold on the back they strapped an old bicycle. Made me think of this thread and thought you might get a kick out of it.

Cool! Next you need to build a Velodog resolver to tote while riding the Velociped!
My wife and I walked around that Jeep a dozen times perhaps, and each time we noticed something different. The variety of technology and the span of decades it covered was amazing. Irons, for example, were present in charcoal burning and a kind of pressurized fuel setup as well. Radios of a wide variety of technology from tubes to transistors. And that's just naming a tiny fraction of the load on the old Willys.

The video really helps explain that wooden appendage sticking out the right side... I was trying and trying to figure that out, until I watched the video and - HA! not attached, used to brace it up for the picture. In Brazil they used the term velocipede for a tricycle. I'm guessing the reason being the pedals used to drive the front wheel like on yours.
