Need help identifying levergun
Hello all. As you can see, I am very new here. I’m trying to find out some info about a lever gun presented to me by my best bud whom has cancer. He gave me the gun several years ago and said it was a puma. I never really looked at it. Just shot it. Shoots great with my loads, not hot rides. Anyway, there is no serial number. Shows 050 of 500. And has inter arms on it. Is a stainless large loop round barrel 45 colt, 16” barrel. I will try to attach photos. It is very accurate for me. Thanks for any help as to what it is and it’s value for insurance.

Re: Need help identifying levergun
Nice little carbine.
It's a Rossi Model '92 a reproduction of a Winchester Model 1892. It was imported by Interarms from Bazile, probably sometime in the '80s or '90s.
I have one in .357 Magnum and it's one of my favorite knockabout / trail guns.
Sorry to hear about your friend, but he gave you a great gift to remember him by.

Re: Need help identifying levergun
If you have ANY function issues with it STEVE's GUNZ is a miracle worker with the Rossi/Interarms/Puma all the same gun. I have one in 357 fitted with a suppressor. Can't help you with the #50 of 500. The serial number on mine is on the loading gate side in REALLY LITTLE numbers. Welcome to the forum.

That manufacturer is sort of hit or miss on quality. Some are great and some suck. If it has issues, like has already been pointed out, stevesgunz is the best place for help. Yes, you should shoot it. Make sure it is sighted in and have fun with it. It is not valuable enough to be worth leaving in a safe to gather dust.

Re: Need help identifying levergun
Thanks to all for replies. It is a very smooth and accurate shooter. It is not a safe queen. But it is taken care of. I can not locate a serial number on the side anywhere with the load gate. Also there is no markings as to the 050 of 500. I have short arms but it can be twirled rifleman style without any hiccups. Action and function wise it is as slick as my browning b92 357 mag. Only better. And I like it better than my daughter’s Winchester 94 age saddle ring 44 mag. And the sweet thing about this one is, I got qualified with it as a patrol rifle, and it shoots big boolits. And yes I did have a higher score than a few other officers using fancy “gas” ar’s. I’m old school
Re: Need help identifying levergun
Did you check underneath for a serial number including under the lever?
Nice shooter btw. Looks much handier than my full length rifle

Re: Need help identifying levergun
My Rossie 454 clearly has the serial number on the bottom of the receiver. Rossi is a major manufacturer of 1892 rifles. They could not possibly sell it without a serial number.
No way. It would be totally illegal to do so.
Look again.

Re: Need help identifying levergun
I would guess that 050 of 500 is the serial number.
I have a special edition BP revolver with the serial # 3xx of 1000.

Re: Need help identifying levergun
That actually makes sense. I have an Ithaca limited production pump shot gun and the serial number is LAPD something something. I'm not aware that Rossi made a limited run of anything, but its certainly possible. -Tutt

Re: Need help identifying levergun
Correct,
All of the xx of 500 serialized Rossi 92 style guns were made in the late 90's as a test run. They were Rossi's first attempt at making Stainless guns. Once Rossi saw how popular they became, Rossi continued making them in stainless.
