So far it's legal to make your own firearms, as long as they are compliant with the requirements of firearms in general (i.e. can't be 75-caliber rifled full-autos).
I agree with Blaine though, and wouldn't chance it.....unless things were in post-apocalyptic dog-eat-dog mode, where the only 'law' was who was the meanest and deadliest. HOPEFULLY we won't get to that point, although the Dumbascraps seem to really, really want us to go there.
OTOH it is a good thing to see ANYTHING that allows the citizen to keep ahead of the tyrants, because when you look at the big picture and long view, that is really the fundamental dichotomy of mankind and civilization....if we rely on the 'mostly good' philosophy that citizens are mostly good, and given a reliable societal foundation that structures society under a 'rule of law', we do well, whereas if we rely on a 'mostly bad' philosophy that means we need to empower a few 'anointed' with the power to dictate to all others how to run their lives, and change laws arbitrarily to pick 'winners and losers' to fit their fancy, we do poorly.
Although we think of 'leverguns' and other firearms as a rewarding hobby and pastime, the REALITY is that firearms are ALL 'political' (
so much for the forumites who void and moan about 'too much politics in the posts'...
...they can kiss all their cute little hobby-firearms goodbye if they don't defend ownership of SBR's and AR's and handguns and so on...).
Firearms are pretty much THE thing that keeps civilization civilized, even though the simple-minded and low-information voters whose world-view has a horizon limited by Disney movies and CNN would be shocked at the concept that guns could be 'good'...
