If you're talking about the French horn intro IIRC it was on the soundtrack of "Patton" with George C. Scott.

Cool story, but not particularly accurate. The poem was penned during the War of 1812, long after the colonies had become The United States. However, Key's poem, "The Defense of Fort McHenry", has much more meaning when read in its entirety.

The Defense of Fort McHenry

O! say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
