FOUND ON THE RANGE >>> IS THIS NEW? OR .....?
I picked this up on the range this morning. Is CCI powder coating .22's now or is someone besides me reloading them? Someone who has a .22 heel bullet mold and powder coats? If so, I must find them!

They had a holiday run of 22's that had red and green bullets in the box.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Jim those are part of CCI’s “clean” series. Todd is correct that they came in a jug of mixed around the holidays. They also make a blue and a red.

does poly coated lead stop barrel fouling? or do you still have to scrub the barrel just the same to clean it?

They should have made 'em in Red, White, and Blue...
As far as 'scrubbing the barrel' - I don't think I've cleaned any of my 22 LR rifle barrels more than once every 50,000 rounds...!
(I do clean the actions, due to the powder fouling that accumulates)

Re: FOUND ON THE RANGE >>> IS THIS NEW? OR .....?
The coating keeps the barrels very clean to reduce the fouling. I powder coat most of my cast bullets for center fire these days for the same reason. I size them after powder coat and NO leading ever. Highly recommended if you are using cast bullets through a suppressor. Doc, I have red, white, a couple blues, aluminum, zombie green, and a copper that resembles Lee liquid aloe. You don’t need to lube the powder coated bullets.

Re: FOUND ON THE RANGE >>> IS THIS NEW? OR .....?
How well does powder coated lead work in a gas operated rifle? Is it effective for lead bullet use in something like an AR? I have only used lead sparingly in my Gas operated rifles. No clogging issues because of limited use.
I am thinking powder coated lead would work in something like an AR because a gas operated shotgun seems to do fine. The shot cup is plastic and I have not heard of clogging issues in a gas operated shotgun.
Any experience or thoughts?

Re: FOUND ON THE RANGE >>> IS THIS NEW? OR .....?
I have shot several hundred PC lead bullets thorough my 458 Socom AR. No leading no fouling in the gas system but in all honesty not enough of a sample size to say for sure. The general consensus on the internet is that PC lead is good to go in gas systems so it MUST be true.

We all know how Google is always correct, especially when they are wrong.
Your experience is more of a reliable source in my opinion than most on Google. I have been wanting to try powder coated bullets. I think I will find some and try them.

Re: FOUND ON THE RANGE >>> IS THIS NEW? OR .....?
Home powder coating is easy peasy. I started with a toaster oven from the thrift shop then upgraded to the big money...$40 at Wally World. I get my powder from smoke on castboolits and plastic storage containers from the dollar store. I had the spoon and long hemostats (tweezers and cheap needle nose pliers work just as well). Oh yeah! Because I am an upper class money is no object elitist I sprung for a roll of non-stick aluminum foil too. I have been PCing for over a year and I am on my second section of foil so that roll will last approximately 126 years. A pound of powder will coat2000-5000 bullets depending on size of the bulletins if you single or double coat them.

I am looking at .458 caliber. I have both a .458 CoCom and a .45-70, and they both like about 325 to 350 grain bullets. My .32 WS model 94 would probably do well with powder coated bullets.
