Amen to that my brother. A big salute to all of our fallen brothers may God bless and keep them in his grace and may we live in such a way to bring honor to them.

For those who want to know more.

Never forgotten. It's just sad that so many don't appreciate the sacrifices that have made us free...

One of the reasons I like this place so much though is that I KNOW that is not the case here!!!

Last week (at the NRA convention) Ted Nugent said is was really heartbreaking to be with a gut-shot soldier he was with and basically watched die, but that there was one thing MORE gut-wrenching and it made him furious.

That thing was how in our country, seeing all the citizens who enjoy the fruits of these sacrifices, and don't appreciate it. How many citizens we have who "loathe the military" or are "against the war" without really thinking it through.

Granted, every war has reasons it should be or shouldn't be fought, but the folks who just disrespect the entire military because they say "war is bad" have no clue.

Anyway, the Nooge agrees - we need to educate our apathetic fellow citizens.

From one who served, (while saluting) "All the way and then some, Sir!"

I have a suggestion, next time you see a soldier with a patch on his right shoulder (for those few who didn't serve, it means he/she was in an area of combat, or saw combat) invite them to lunch or dinner and pay for it. It would show an individual soldier that some Americans do still care.

My enjoyment will be pulling my shift in my counties own "sandbox". Our recreational sand dunes.

God bless all of those that have sacrificed for our freedoms.

My Dad survived the war but sometimes I think he felt guilty surviving while loosing so many good friends. I know the war left some permanent scars which never really healed even after 63 years. The one year anniversary of his passing is just a couple weeks away. I will think of him this Memorial Day. This Sunday my wife's kid brother (45 year old kid that is) is getting married (round 2 first wife cheating on him while he was on first one year tour). He has been in the US Army since he was 18 and is Chief Warrant Officer II. After his wedding he will be shipped off to Iraq for his second tour of duty leaving his new Japanese National wife behind to worry about him.
Lots to think about this week end.

While we are remembering those who fought and died for our rights and liberty , let's not forget those that left were behind , the wives, mothers, brothers .... They all sacrificed also . I had a very close friend whose son was lost in Viet Nam. It took years before he could even talk about it . Another friend with whom I spent many days fishing was Special Forces . And another (there are no ex-)Marine the Best Man at my 2nd wedding .
I've been blessed to know 3 members of the Special Forces . Let's not forget any of them and thank any Armed Forces personnel that you know !!!

"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.â€
