Clear Epoxy Info
Got a project I'm cobbling together, need an epoxy to fill in a 1/4" deep recess. But I want it to be as clear as possible to show the contrasting colors and shape. So what, 2 part epoxy dries the clearest? I dont need a gallon of the stuff ! What has wirked for you?thanks Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Fiberglass resin dries pretty clear. The cheap ones will dry a little yellow.

Todd, when I was young, about fifty years ago, I used to make paper weights in molds with various things imbedded. The epoxy was made with this purpose in mind, to stay clear. I don't remember the brand, but you can get it at hobby stores.

Re: Clear Epoxy Info
Probably the best would be the bar top finish epoxy but its by the gallon usually. Hard part about epoxy is the tiny air bubbles from mixing.
Acraglass has a liquid glass bedding kit but I think it is cloudy.
Gorilla Glue has a crystal clear glue but not sure how resilient it is.
Could try a crazy glue type product.

At that depth I would get a real pouring resin from woodcraft. Very easy to use and crystal clear.
Normal epoxies like West or System 3 will tend to be bubbly at that depth and if the hardener is oxidized it wont be clear. West does make a coating hardener that is clear with some UV blockers in it but I have never tried it in a deep recess, just as a sealing topcoat on marine plywood.
