Tank cannon 'bore evacuators' - how do they work?

Post by AJMD429 »

Bore Evacuators don't seem like they would really cause the propellant gasses 'to be vacuumed out of the bore following the projectile', but that is how they are described. Towards the end of this presentation - https://youtu.be/by2I0CbhyKc - the guy makes a comparison to suppressors on firearms, and to the extent that is true, they make MORE rearward gasses.

Anyone know how 'bore evacuators' on tanks actually work...?

I always wondered what those things were on the barrel of the main gun. Thank you for sharing.

Sort of a Venturi effect to blow out the bore?
