Streamlight TLR-2HL Weapon Light

Post by AJMD429 »

Tonight I was shooting at the 12 inch gong at 100 yards, and had no problem scoring 10 hits in a row with this set up. It was dark enough there would be no way to even see the 50 yard gongs without some kind of light, and even the 25 yard ones were only barely visible that something was in the grass but not as individual things.

The lights come with a red laser version and a green laser version, and this one is the red version. It works well with the Vortex Sparc AR optic and Magpul flip-up rear.

To get it further forward as well as not have the sling interfere I happened to have a clamp-on Picatinny rail sling side-mount that goes on the bayonet lug that worked perfectly for this application.

Depending on whether you flip the switch up or down you get momentary or continuous light and or laser. If you flip it twice quickly you get a strobe for the light portion.

I believe it is 1000 lm but whatever it is, it was bright enough to use at 100 yards in conjunction with either the optic red dot or flip up sides or just to use with the laser alone.

The irons and optic are zeroed for 100 yards but the laser at 50 yards; at 50 yards the optic and flip-ups are an inch above impact. At 100 yards the laser is about two inches above impact. All those are approximate and with 55 grain factory ammo.

Anyhow, I find for handguns and long guns like that the stream light TLR-2 series are really excellent.

(...Streamlight marketing is welcome to contact my Agent for information as to where to send the check... :D )

There was a time when that would have been an essential bit of kit for me, sadly I rarely now do any night time shooting. Looks cool Doc. 8)
