BUTLER, Mo. -- A local car dealer is holding a controversial promotion involving guns.

Max Motors in Butler is offering anyone who buys a car the choice of $250 in gas or a free semi-automatic handgun.

I like the Police Chief's take...
The local police chief said he is OK with the promotion as long as the weapons aren't handed out at the dealership.
Sounds like a guy I'd like running my PD...

Warning: in-bound flippant statement ---->

I'd like to see some of the gun dealers offer a promotion in the reverse.

Geeze, that's old hat.

Jack Ross and his wife Aquanetta did that at their Lincoln / Mercury dealer in Tempe AZ long ago. I can remember them giving away brand new Lugers in the TV adds.

At the time I wasn't old enough to buy a car, I sure wanted on of them Lugers.

You have to be kidding about the wife's name. How did she survive all the kidding as a child?

Forgive my ignorance, but is it against the law to give away guns? Wait, is it because he doesn't have an FFL?

She was a B-movie actress, probably just a screen name.
