I like the Police Chief's take...
Sounds like a guy I'd like running my PD...The local police chief said he is OK with the promotion as long as the weapons aren't handed out at the dealership.

Jack Ross and his wife Aquanetta did that at their Lincoln / Mercury dealer in Tempe AZ long ago. I can remember them giving away brand new Lugers in the TV adds.
At the time I wasn't old enough to buy a car, I sure wanted on of them Lugers.
