Vintage stagecoach or sleigh foot warmer

Seen a picture of a Vintage stagecoach or sleigh foot warmer so made one, trying hot rocks in it now but am going to make a tray that burns coal tomorrow.

I can't say cool because it ain't supposed to be I have seen similar warmers in antique sales, could you use charcoal in it Lenn ?

With charcoal it would warm the outhouse also if ya have time to let it warm up.

That's a neat warmer Lenn. I'm probably one of the few still alive who remember trotting down the path to the outhouse. It was miserable when it was really cold or sleeting and snowing. Wasn't real fun in the hot humid summers either but at that time it was all there was. Have you ever seen an Arvin gasoline heater? I remember Dad had one in his Model A. I'm not sure, was that a catalytic heater? I remember, after installing plumbing in the house, I used the outhouse for a smoke house. Moved it to a different location and built a fire in a steel bucket with bullet holes in it and hung my hams and bacons from the rafters. It worked.

Thanks Ron, when i was a kid i`d stay at Grandma`s place once and a while they had a out house and that`s it other than a bucket with a lid, forget what they called them
Never seen a Arvin heater, one year our drain field froze up so i strung a cord to the out house and put in a heat lamp flipped the switch before heading out there.

Neat device.
One year it got really cold before the Sorghum (milo) harvest. A friend of Dad's was a farmer. He borrowed Dad's Coleman catalytic heater because his combine didn't have any heat.

Lenn, how would this stand up to hot coals? I like the hot rocks idea.

Thanks piller and Bill, i think this model used a small pan of coals the only place the tin box touches the wood is around the edge of the bottom.
I put a few briquets in a can outside yesterday and worked fine.
I read that they would put it on the floor and a woman would put her long skirt over the thing or blankets wrapped around her legs and be nice and toasty.

Found a picture of another model so made one, the top cloth layeds on the can witch is filled with hot water.
