Or will filling it and letting it soak-in and swell do that for you?
(We used to own a 30' wooden boat... One of us kids always slept on the floor 6" above the bilge for the first 48 hours it was wet -- NOT BY CHOICE either -- we had to draw lots to see who got "keep the boat from sinking duty" that night...)
Thanks guys, we soaked it over night as the staves were really loose and it sealed but when it dries out again i`m going to tighten the rings then it will seal faster.

Thanks John, when it`s done we`ll give it another coat of stain.
I wanted to build one with a water agitator motor on it but can`t find one.

I was gonna say you’re not far off of what early ones were like but I see you know that. One of my first real jobs was a Maytag repairman so to speak. The owner had some antique washers and such. I have a 1937 Maytag gas washing machine.
I saved some old Speed Queen calendars from when I worked there. They always used old pictures from their archives.
I remember showing my 37 Maytag to my girlfriend many years ago and she looks at me all serious, “I’m not using that”
My wife and I have talked about it several times, she says she would love to have an old wringer washer. They used one when she was growing up with the electric motor. When we checked, the only ones made now are made by the Saudis.

Thanks guys, here`s a picture of a water motor machine i`d like to make but can`t find one of the cylinders.

Man, Lenn you are ready to make anything. If things go as bad as it is predicted this November, we might all have to move near you and form a compound.

Pitchy, cant remember do you have a hand pump for backup water supply?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!
Bill i`ve had those Maytag washers with a motor but sold them, to spendy now days.
Thanks piller, Todd used to have a hand pump well in the yard but it broke.
Only thing i have now is the house jet pump well but i haven`t figured out how to get water out of it without power, generator is the only way now if the power goes out.

EOTWAWKI comes, I'm moving in with Lenn. He's a mechanical genius, and I have mad chemistry skills. I can literally turn feces into potable water.

You bet buddy, the more the merrier
Still have to wonder if we crossed paths in the USAF, '71-'77. Turns out, this gets complicated, my sisters first husbands brother used to drink at the NCO club with her second husband. Talk about a small world.

Thanks Ron, the plunger in the center of the piston pushes open a poppet valve in the center casting, one on each cylinder.
