Hog populations

Post by Comal Forge »

I listen to NPR daily and the local Texas station stated today at lunch that the population of feral hogs had reached 2 million and they are expected to cause $50 million in damage this year to cash crops (only in Texas - not the rest of the country).

WELL, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! GET OUT THERE AND SHOOT SOME... :P

I'm just waiting on an invitation from one of my Texas buddies. I've got a new 45-70 I'm just dying to try out on some hogs. Oh yeah, I just remembered, I don't know anybody in Texas. :?

I'm waiting for the price to come down. The couple times I've tried to go hog hunting, people want to charge me 5X the market value of a cornfed hog for the privilege of shooting and getting rid of their acorn fed crop destroying pestilence.

So far, I've refused.

At Sunday school recently a woman related that she had been chased back into the house by a wild hog at night. I told her that I and my grandson could solve that problem quickly. She replied; "No, we don't want any guns on our ranch." I almost told her; "Well, start praying, then!"

Ain't nuthin' free about hunting in TX.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Here in Fla. hogs are like vermin. They're everywhere. When my son was working at the local tractor Supply there were three people that used to come in there all the time that made money trappin them.

Our church youth pastor has a contract with a major corporation here to remove hogs from their property. It's a full time job for him on the weekends. his Saturdays are usually always tied up.

Come to AL and GA; it's open season on them here, there's so many of them! If you can get on Ft. Benning, they have a bounty on them. Good way to make some cash, if you can do it.

I don't know anyone with a hog problem to solve. It's just as well, the closest thing to a hog gun I have is the .50ML. :?
