started shooting at age 2 1/2
started reloading about age 32.
killed first game , a squirrel, age 9 [ me, not the squirrel ].

67. Like many dad started me young. I honestly don't remember the first time I shot a .22 lr rifle. But before that it was a Red Ryder. I remember we would play cowboys and indians with Red Ryders (no we didn't shoot at each other), and Radio Flyer wagons. If a bunch of kids were seen walking down the street to the local "field" carrying BB guns a full on swat response would happen today.

Of course, we were always side tracked by Mrs Powell's cookies either coming or going. Hey, you need to keep up your strength for such daring adventures.

I have a RCBS single stage press mounted and may try a round or two in the next few months...

My wife and I have the EXACT same birthdate but I tell her since she was born in the PI she’s 12 hours older . She sees no humor in that lols . So now on our birthday I tell her she gets a year older and I’ll be two years YOUNGER

I got that from my mother she hated getting old older and it kinda rubbed off . But then if one doesn’t get older they DIE

I am not sure what you mean by that David.
It's not my first post. I was one of the guys who first turned on the lights here.

Down by options and attachments on a first post there's also a poll tab.
Put in up to 15 answers to a question and it creates a radio button for each to vote.
I don't *think* you need any privileges to do this, but if you don't see "poll" on a new post I'm full of it.
Creating it isn't hard I just don't know the breakdown of the possible answers would make the best sense
Starting with 20-24,25-29,30-34 ...?

I'm 66...it all started when I was five. I was probably driving My Grandfather nuts and when staying at His house he put Me on patrol. My job was to go from window to window looking for cats and rabbits. I worked hard at it and always liked the results as it involved the .22.

Almost 63

Guns and shooting, hunting has always been a big part of my life from the time I was 5 or 6 yrs old. Grew up on a farm, and moved back to the farm I grew up on, about 30 years ago and built a house. I just recently retired from construction work, and just have cattle now.

I shot competition a lot in my younger years. I shot in the old IPSC Combat Matches in the 80's, before they totally got tech crazy. Shot some IDPA later on in recent years, and might still again. I also shot some NRA Bullseye matches and NRA Hunter Silhouette in the 80's also. Needless to say, the 80's saw a lot of my extra money go for guns, leather, powder and lead, too much, but I enjoyed it.

I love to hunt deer, quail, pheasant, mostly. I love and hunt with the classic old side by side shotguns, both American and European. And of course, even though I own and shoot all kinds of guns, Leveractions are my favorite rifles, and pretty much always have been.

Will turn 70 in August. Shot my first revolver @ 7 (Colt SAA), first rifle in boot camp @ 19 (the mighty M-1). Started competitive shooting @ 21. Started reloading @ 23, casting @ 35, still learning.

I can lower that a little, I'm 57.
My parents were not so excited about guns, I kept a lot of things at my friends house.
Mom just didn't like the idea of hunting flying grasshoppers in the cornfield, spent many a days...
Law on a firearms never really even crossed my (anybody's) mind back then.
I think the parents laws were it was not based on your age but behavior.

I believe you are correct. But also the neighbors took care of our behavior. If a neighbor had to "adjust" my behavior, I got it again when I got home. Times were different back then.

I'm 56 (as of May 16th). Been shooting since I was five or so, like so many others, going out with my Dad (I started Y2K when he was 2!

). I've been reloading for 40 years now. Doing a lot of that during the pandemic quarantine. Lately doing a lot of paper cartridges for .44's and .36's.

You are mostly a bunch of old guys. No need to be ancient and grumpy. Be careful that you all stay healthy so you can pass all that accumulated wisdom along. I think Jim T., Blaine, and Doc AJ have got the concept figured out. I think I was born a grumpy old man. Learning to relax has been difficult.

Don’t mean to hijack this thread but want to make a comment on young un’s and leverguns. My buddy has a daughter (actually step daughter by neither one EVER uses that phrase) she is 11. We all went to the range a couple times and after using semi 22’s, bolt 22’s, and lever 22’s she flat out said she wanted a Henry 22. As some of you know we went through a little difficulty as she wanted a purple one(cerakote and a very generous koter to the rescue). This last Christmas morning she got a purple Henry. Both of my youngest brothers boys are into shooting, the 11 year old wanted a bolt gun with a scope. The 8 year old told me “ Uncle T-bone, when my Mom and Dad say it’s ok for me to get my 22,I want a Henry.” I said but your Dad has a Henry and Ibhave a couple Henry’s you can shoot any time. He got a stern look on his face (for a chubby 8!year old) and said “ But I want my own Henry.”
They may be few and far between but there are youth out there that want a levergun instead of an AR. Both the above kids have shot multiple gun types.

37 here, started with a Red Ryder .177 caliber... not the most powerful but it had great magazine capacity!
Learned to wing shoot when I was 19 or 12. My stepdad handed me a little .410 SxS and one shell to keep the pigeons out of the chicken feed. He wouldn't let me have two shells until I could reliably make a clean kill in the air.
He collected Winchesters and even had the 1894 .30-30 rifle that was in his father's saddle scabbard when the ranch was homesteaded.
