A note on staying logged into the board...
Discovered this based on comment made by another member (apologies, can't find the name)
Had my bookmark direct to General Discussion board, that's where I lurk the most. Its shortcut: http://www.levergunscommunity.org/viewforum.php?f=1
If you use that, before posting or anything you have to log in *every time*.
However...
If you first connect to the board main page using this link: https://www.levergunscommunity.org/
The board software then recognizes you, and you're logged in when you click down to General Discussion
So all this discussion about 'delete your cookies', etc. is moot - for some reason the software wants you to use this as an entry point
Been testing it for a week or so and it's solid, I'm logged in all the time this way.
Odd that it still does that, I've other forums where you can be in a sub-forum and still be recognized. Maybe it's a setting in the board configuration.
No matter, this is a working answer.

The link I have is the second one, that you state stays logged in.....nope
Re: A note on staying logged into the board...
I haven't been able to stay logged in for the past 5 years or so. I've set my shortcut to https://www.levergunscommunity.org/ and I've stayed logged in for a few hours so far. Its working so far.
Re: A note on staying logged into the board...
No, just the one computer.
Re: A note on staying logged into the board...
Ok, so I just tried another way, just, levergunscommunity.org/ Then clicked on discussion, and now the topics are in different colors, ?? I re-logged in, I'll check later to see if it takes.
Frankly it's not a huge problem, just takes a bit more time to get in to post.

If the OP will notice:
The 1st link (that you say will not stay logged in)is http and the 2nd link (that you say will stay logged in) is https.

Yes, did see that.
At this point I've messed about on this issue enough, found something that works, and moved on.
Got some other things screwed up with my home PC right now. Since I'm working from home in a technical support role I'm a bit tired of computer screens. (grin)
Oh. You do get points for sharp eyes for noticing that!

So,.. I logged onto the https link, re logged in, and when I came back, voila! I was still logged in.
never noticed that "S" thing. Hope that was all it was.

Re: A note on staying logged into the board...
gcs, it probably is. but like I said, I'm too tired and burnt out right now on 'puter stuff to set up a proper test...I just want to browse and I really, really needs some range time. (grin)
Short version for non-computer folk: http v. https, just think that "s" means security for your internet traffic, blocking most from being able to intercept and read it.
Especially for banking, ordering, anything involving a credit card or payment - look at that address bar and if it does not say https, then back away, stop what you're doing.
Then contact the vendor or whoever and abuse them verbally about having a non-secure site.
Interesting that, I thought this board, along with most of the internet had moved on and upped their security game. Obviously not.
Now, back to paying attention to my dogs, and contemplating /anything/ that's not a computer!

I don't know where you get that....
Login to a secure page; stay logged in.
Login to an unsecured page; login every time.
Simple as that.

Re: A note on staying logged into the board...
When you click on your bookmark, what shows up in your address bar after this site comes up? Does it include a padlock symbol? It should start with either http or https, but with Safari on my iPhone, I'd have to try to edit the current address to see what it's using, although since it shows a padlock, I know it's https.COSteve wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 4:53 pm Odd. I just checked my Bookmark for Leverguns.com and the link is listed as:
With that, and with my logging in and checking to stay logged in, I come directly to this forum.
Sites requiring https (which uses an encrypted link) are quite common today. It's not surprising the forum software will only trust user credentials via such.
