Yesterday I continued testing the Killebrew bullet in the 480 Achilles. The last loads I used were with 12 gr. 2400 for around 870 fps. Yesterday I was using a heavy load (for this gun) of WC820 .. Military Surplus H110. These loads were closer to 960 fps and are as heavy as I want to try.
I shot using a two-hand hold on a pistol rest that was sitting on the hood of my truck.
I have shot targets for many years using about a 1" square at 25 yards.
It looks a bit smaller than the standard Ruger front sight and you can tell if you are off to one side or the other.
These days with my old eyes I have to go to the range early in morning and use a bay that has the sun behind me.
If it ain't too durn bright I can actually see the targets fairly well .. at least until my eyes start blurring.
I think for me, getting older would not be so bad if I could just see as well as I did when I was 28.
Alas .........
When I shoot red dot sights, I either use my left eye or I aim using the dot on the left of the 3 that I see with my left eye closed. Green dot sights and regular metal sights do not do that to me.

That .480 Achilles looks to be a decent cartridge. No need to justify it, and it seems to be able to pretty well show that it is certainly capable of accuracy.
