Win 1300 Speed Pump Uodate
Who has any experience or working knowledge with the Winchester SpeedPump. Its a rotary bolt and feels really smooth and quick. Its lot sleeker and more rounded and smooth like an 870. I dont have good thoughts about Winchester shotguns from 70's and on, but this handles so nice. Plus its in 20 gauge which helps.
Bonus question what are yer thoughts on paying $650 for a NIB Ruger M77 bolt rifle in 357 Mag? Todd/3leg

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Buy the Ruger, take or leave the 1300. These have some plastic parts that break, kinda like shell stops/ mag tube mounting blocks. Replacement parts are/ were out there.

Re: Win 1300 Speed Pump
I have just sold my Winchester Ranger cheaper version of the1300 speed pump, it was smooth and felt slicker than my Mossberg and Remington. I didn't get to use it much but it always went bang. Just don't really need a pump anymore.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
Re: Win 1300 Speed Pump
I have a 1300 (Ranger) and love it -- but it has a reputation for being comparatively fragile. If I were choosing a serious, fight-a-war shotgun I'd get something else, but for hunting and shoot-once-in-a-while recreation or home defense, I wouldn't turn my nose up at one. The one I have, a 12 ga., was bought several years ago in like-new shape with choke tubes ranging from IC to Xtra Full, and cost me $150. With its 20-inch barrel it makes a super turkey and short-range deer/hog gun. With the Xtra Full choke installed, I call it my "Buckshot Rifle".
Re: Win 1300 Speed Pump
Buy the 77-357 now! That's a great price for it.
Like others have said. The 1300 has a great reputation for speed and smoothness. They look pretty good too. They also have a reputation for breaking. Not quite junk but not a great shotgun either. I might buy one on a good deal but I have others.

Re: Win 1300 Speed Pump
I own a couple Winchester 1300 Defenders 12ga and a Ranger 120 20ga.
The 1300 are product improved versions of Winchester's earlier 120/1200 pump guns and are good shotguns. The earlier versions like 1200 guns have some faults that don't exist in the 1300 guns. These are really pretty nice shotguns and tuff enough

Still using a 97 and model 12's in 12 ga and 16 ga.
Re: Win 1300 Speed Pump
I had a 1300 for years. No issues at all. Should not of sold it.
It ejects itself, all the shooter has to do is close the action. I would buy another before I bought another 870!

Re: Win 1300 Speed Pump
+1 ... I had one for several years and would not recommend it, the magazine tube is connected to the receiver with a plastic piece that can fail and replacement parts are hard to find. If you interested in a rotary bolt on a shotgun look at the Benelli Nova or Super Nova... :)

Well ended up getting, after 58 years, my 1st left handed bolt action rifle. Savage model 11 .223 with wood stock, internal mag, open sights and 1-12" twist. It is the most un-tactical rifle i could find! Todd/3leg

if you like the shotgun, buy it.
my dad bought a winchester model 120 ranger slug gun in around 1986 and hunted hard with it for 30 years, it received minmal care as it was a tool, and it never had a single problem. brought home a LOT of deer.
