Winchester 73 44-40 Black Powder shooting (video)
Hi all.
Some 44-40 range action with my Winchester M73, Miroku manufactured. Cartridges are loaded with Swiss #4 black powder, under Accurate Molds #43-220C (sized to .430") bullets pan lubed with a 50/50 beeswax/lard mix. A very good combination; I see no deterioration in accuracy even after 100 rounds or more fired.
Stay safe and Corona-free!

Great video! I also have a Miroku 73 in .44-40. I'd planned on attempting to start BP loading a few weeks back but then all this mess started.

Good shooting, beautiful country!
Thanks for the video!

Have you hugged your rifle today?

Thanks for the kind comments. This video was more of an exercise to learn the basics of the Davinci Resolve free video editor. I still have quite alot to learn. I have some spare time on my hands due to the corona situation. Over here in Norway we all are ordered to work from home, and fortunately I am one of the lucky ones that can do my job from home. That gives me some free time since I don't have to commute. A lot of people over here have lost their work due to the whole society has shut down. Thankfully our government has spent quite a lot of (our) money to ensure these people will be able to uphold their income so they can feed their families.
Hope that you all are safe, and that this will go over soon. One positive thing might be that the world gets a heads-up about a potential future epidemic that could be much more lethal than this one, so the governments could be better prepared than they were this time.

J, I use Swiss 1 1/2 for 45 and 50 cal rifles but had to look up #4. Scheutzen's info says 4 is flinter priming so might be a little sudden for 44-40.

Swiss operates with 'grades' on their powders. So #4 is a coarse powder for use in long rifles.
N°1 = 4 Fg
N°2 = 3 Fg)
N°3 = 2 Fg
N°4 = 1 1/2 Fg
N°5 = 1 Fg
