Dang, Lenn, it has been a long time since I had any o' that golden delight! How long did it take to get curds with that swell little churn you built?
Boy, I hope you had a loaf of bread in the oven. Is there anything better in the world?
Thanks Bill, took about 15 minutes.
Couple tips, let the whipping cream warm to room temp and put a couple marbles in the jar to agitate.
Norma`s making bread as we speak

Next generation is where you attach a cordless drill to the crankshaft and have butter in 3 minutes!
One year up in Quebec we had an old egg beater without the handle, (my 2 buddies had birthdays 3 days apart) had to mix the cake batter so we hooked up the Dewalt 18volt to the egg beater.

When I was a kid we always had a cow that Daddy milked so we had real butter, cream and lots of milk. Mostly Mama made biscuits but sometimes we got rolls and she always made a loaf of bread too. Homemade jam or jelly. I could drown in saliva if I don't quit. Esperanza is making Corned beef and cabbage right now so I gotta go.

And it was good, today i`ve been thinking about the times we`re in and watched a old war movie.
It spun my mind back to the ways folks used to get by and care about each other so we made some butter the old way.
I could go on for ever about how sick a portion of our great country has become and how important that us old gray beards carry on with the old ways and stand up for right because in the end we will survive.

Homemade bread and Sand Plum jelly is one of life's true pleasures.

Sand plums grow in the semi desert soil out in Western Kansas and Oklahoma. They are a bush with lots of thorns. The fruit is a red plum which looks like a beautiful large red cherry and is practically inedible until cooked with a lot of sugar. The jelly is a red jelly that has a flavor which must be experienced since there is nothing else even close to it. My Grandmother had grape vines with Concord and another variety, mulberry trees, peach trees, apple trees, and cherry trees. The entire extended family liked the Sand plum jelly the best. https://kelliskitchen.org/2012/07/sand- ... and-jelly/ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prunus_angustifolia

My Grandmother had a glass jar with wooden paddles attached to a crank on the lid. It held about a gallon. That thing made butter pretty fast.

Liking your press, too, Lenn. Gives a professional-looking cube!
My folks used to talk about the early margarine that came white, but with a pack of yellow food coloring. You had to mix it yourself. Seems the dairy industry didn't want people thinking margarine was butter.
The press didn`t work very well, must of missed something in the plan
The other press works the best.

Made this mold yesterday, it works good but there`s a trick to using these molds.
Soak the mold in ice water for 30 minutes before putting the butter in then freeze it solid and it will come out easier.

I've never made butter, but I got a "ride" in my sailboat running up the ourside coast of Washington. A tide rip that bounced the boat so hard for so long that the whipping cream got whipped. But didn't make it to the butter. Maybe that's not possible.

Ha good one Grizz, if it had a couple marbles in it it probably would of made it.
