Every so often we see a firearm advertised for sale with description including the phrase "honest wear".
What the devil is "dishonest wear"?
Just curious.
Honest wear?

Depends, there were some security guard revolvers that became available here. Mostly holster wear was evident.

"Honest wear" as opposed to "De-Farbed"? https://www.gunbroker.com/item/838871678

Re: Honest wear?
Those never before worn distressed leather jackets occasionally seen at trendy stores are examples of dishonest wear. Meant to look old and well used when new. I have never seen a firearm with premature wear that was not abused.

Re: Honest wear?
To me, its like the old levers and pumps we get in that have carried for 30-40 years and have worn bluing and scratched up sticks from being in the woods. Mechanically they are tight and solid cuz they only had about 5 boxes of shells thru them. Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: Honest wear?
Todd, wear from use that you describe is certainly what I would consider honest wear.
