I suppose it would make sense but on the other hand the only time I can realistically see using it would be in the middle of the night if I heard a prowler on the first floor. I could put the vest on and strap on my firearm and then move to a place of cover at the top of the stairs but on the other hand I just don't see it as likely enough to be worthwhile.
I don't know, I'm leaning hard towards 'no, not for me' but maybe one of you guys have a view that might make me reconsider.

Best I can think of is surounding yourself with anti-gun, anti - hunting liberal snow flakes , all that soft headedness will stop a lot of lead!
On a serious note, back in the 90s the company I was working for was doing offices for the county prosecutor. The entry way had 1/2" of kevlar behind the sheetrock, 1&3/8" of bullet proof glass- except on the stairwell wall. I said to the prosecutor hey how come that wall is just sheetrock? He questioned me and I said if I was trying to kill your staff I sure wouldn't get on the elevator to start shooting, I'd start by sneaking up the stairs and shooting up the place. The next thing we did was more kevlar on that wall. Oh and yes I did take cut offs of both and shot them. Kevlar stopped just about everything but high speed small diameter went through that "glass" like butter!

I wore some daily for a few months a few years ago when there was a credible death-threat from a psychotic with enough 'political' connections and 'protected status' that he couldn't be proactively detained or even questioned.
It isn't that intrusive (the 'handgun' kind, not the 'rifle' kind).
It probably won't be available to mere citizens (just cops, movie stars, politicians, and criminals) after awhile, so I kept it in the back of the closet.

The gun shows usually have someone selling it. I am starting to see evidence that it might be a good idea to have some within the next year. The level to stop handguns would probably be a good idea.

Mine is .308 rated with the plates.....without the plates it's only 44 magnum rated. That's my good stuff...have other that's 9/40 rated.
Was thinking of having Kevlar coating on the house and Jeeps as we're gonna need it if Trump is maliciously removed from office...."major upheaval" is the word I hear all the time from regular law abiding people......don't know how many are real or just talking but everyday working class people are majorly pizzed...... Talked to a lady about 65 y.o. today who, along with her husband is a fourth generation farmer and they have never seen so many lies coming from the left ....so....they are locked and loaded. She was telling me they work from sunup to sundown and are sick of watching what little profits they have go to others who stand on street corners and with the threat of more taxes that AOC and her kind are proposing she feels they are working for nothing and TRUMP is their only hope for a decent life.
Ya know it's bad when mild mannered casual hard working farmers are getting ready. The wife and I are so glad we are out of the rat race, retired, and can stand on our own two feet without government help. Glad I was born when I was.----6

I've noticed that the kiddies backpacks with a 9mm rated panel inserted are being clearanced at quite a few online sellers and on ebay for $40 or less.....
Seems like it would be both easier and quicker to don one of these bassakwards "frontpack" style when awakened by the bump in the night than a conventional vest.....Handy storage there for torches, magazines and the like.....

body armor is something that my Agency provides...there's nothing like wearing a level III vest when it's 90 degrees with high humidity -- we have gone to outside carriers... :)
