New to me Marlin 336T .35 Rem arrives

Post by Hobie »

Thanks to Warhawk the 1964 mfgd 336 straight grip in .35 Remington has arrived and it is better than the photos some of you saw. Might replace a couple of boogered screws and already have a Foolproof sight on order. Great gun although it hasn't gone to the range with me yet. No pics either. Other committments have interfered with photo taking of late and today in particular. It is lighter, slimmer and trimmer and handier than the 1982 336T in .30-30 I already had! What a pair!!!!! Oh yeah, I'm happy.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Congratulations! And one of the best things about that rifle is you will not have to wrestle with any Cross bolt safety either. Sounds like a very nice pair you have Hobie!

I guess that means you came up with enough pennies.

35 is one of those cartridges that delivers more performance on game than figures on charts would suggest. You should consider loading the 180 grain Speer for slightly flatter trajectory.

Please share photos of your treasure, soon.

TR,

This is my third .35 Rem. I have Rem Model 8 and a TC Contender Carbine. 38 gr. H4895 and 200 gr. Hornady RN or Rem CoreLokt RN...

This came with some Leverevoltution ammo....

What a great gun to aquire Hobie !

I have a 35 in a 336, but it's got the pistol grip. Nice guns. Are you going to shoot cast? I've thought about loading the .357 handgun bullets in that case. Should get some interesting results, eh?

Congratulations, if I had the cash available, that rifle would be in my hands now. :( Been wanting one of those for some time, but never seem to have the right cash or the right trade at the right time. Enjoy and remember me if you should decide to put it up FS or FT in the future. :)

Hobie, you got a good one! I acquired one of those myself a few years back, 35 Remington like yours, and it shoots great. I can't for the life of me figure out why Marlin never kept making them. Slender, well-balanced, handy, and accurate. Just think of all of the lumber they'd have saved staying with the straight grip and slender fore end. Hope you get many deer with this rifle.

Congrats! And do post pics when you can get em together.

I'm waiting on mine to come back from Nonneman's - of course, it'll be a .356 Win when it gets here.... but I've got a 90's 336 in 35 Rem and it shoots great. But I'd rather have a straight stocked one. ;)
