Back in Time....with your favorite smoke-pole
Have you ever speculated what it might have been like if you were to travel back in time but be allowed one modern firearm, how much you could change history.
One person at the Alamo with a simple Ruger 10/22 and a couple cases of ammunition.
A frontier settler in the early 1800's who had a Mini-14 or AR-15 and 20,000 rounds handy.
Back in the 1200's and a modern muzzleloader.
Just walking in the woods checking your traps in the 1700's and having a levergun in 357 Mag, and a hundred rounds.
Living in the Warsaw Ghetto and having an Apache helicopter with a 20mm Gatling.
Just interesting to think about sometimes.....

Recently I ran across an old gun catalog from 1924, if I could go back in time with large amounts of gold or cash to buy guns, stash them somewhere until I returned at the present to retrieve them and then sell or enjoy them would be really neat!
Case in point H&H rifles listed at $1200 as well as other best quality English stuff!

The mythical timekeepers and freelancers would be obligated to follow you back and remove you before you had a chance to use any modern, future inventions. They just can't let any aberration materially change the future.

I've thought about the 10-22 thing with the Battle of Little Bighorn. Often wondered if that technology would have overcome Custer's blunder.

AR15 barrel would be toast long before 200, 000 rounds. Now, if it was a 22 lr upper, I would say it would.

I actually think about going back in time occasionally. But rather than take modern guns back, I'd go back to take old guns with me on my return to this time! Screw changing history.....I want some brand new 1800's guns!

A Savage with accutrigger in .308 and 5,000 rounds, plus a good Leupold scope in 1776.
Same setup at the Alamo. Or, in 1812.
An AK47 at one of the battles when Boru was kicking the Vikings out of Ireland. He might have been able to totally kick them out.
Be on the side of the Zulu with an M2 and 5,000 rounds.
It could go on and on.

I guess Ma Deuce with a plentiful amount of ammo would be a game changer in most historic events,

Re: Back in Time....with your favorite smoke-pole
I'd never think to go back and kill rank and file soldiers in big battles...they are just doing what they are told and know no better. Hell, if I was at Custers Last Stand, I'd probably be shooting at the soldiers.
If I could go back in time, my first choice would be to have a Barrett 50, fitted with a custom 34" match grade barrel, a two pound crisp trigger, a top-of-the-line Nightforce scope, and a super suppressor along with a a lot of rounds of highly accurate Hornady A-Max 50 BMG ammo. I'd start with Hitler, then the rest of his high command, along with Joe Stalin and what friends he had, then finish off that slant eyed Jap Hirohito and his generals.----6

Well Piller beat me to the M2. Take any of the aforementioned military engagements, add the M2 and the loser would likely end up on top.
But how about a .22 lr derringer and walk up behind Lee Harvey Oswald (let's not get into conspiracy theories) and pop him before he fires.
Or take out Gavrilo Princip before he shot Archduke Ferdinand. How many lives would that have saved, how different a world would we be in.
Or taking Adolph Hitler out during WW I.
You could go on and on. But, it isn't to be, so we have to live in the world of today and just try to make it a little bit better every day.

One guy with a scoped Barrett in .338 taking potshots at all the officers. That would have taken the wind out of any attack. Actually, anybody with Quigley's weapon/skill would do it, too. (as long as we're dreaming).

Every action ripples through time.
Consider that if Hitler had been taken out early, man might never have gone to the moon, or that the personal computer that you are using right now might not ever have been invented.
If a modern squad weapon had been captured at the Alamo, everything west of the Mississippi might be Mexico.
Eliminating the first slaver might eliminate the possibility of the development of any of the great people and minds that came from that adversity.
Who knows the Lord's mind? Is it possible that by shooting the serpent in Eden, you would be harming G_d's chief prosecutor? Would then you be a servant of evil?
I'm of a mind that things are unfolding as they should.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Having said that, I agree; many, if not most, of the time something really great is done, it is the result of something really crappy that necessitated it.
Obama-then-Trump is a great example.
On the other hand, since it is just PRETEND......it is fun to 'speculate'.......imagine the thrill even just protecting your small spear-armed tribe from the bigger neighboring invaders who started shooting at you from a hundred yards away with their new-fangled crossbows.... ......then you whip out your belt-fed M-60, and turn things around right quick.....
