Lovely example in a very, very useful caliber.

That's a very nice lightweight (note the raised wood around the action) sporting rifle with DST's.
IMO, the only thing to do is find out if the 8x57 barrel has the early (.318" 8x57J) or the later (.323" 8x57JS/S-bore) bore size.
IIRC, commercial 8x57 ammo is all .323" (since 1905)
Please be careful if handloading for it, as the receiver ring dovetail for the front claw mount base makes it weaker than an un-cut receiver ring. (should be OK w/commercial ammo, provided the headspace checks out)
