The '95s have always been my favorite Winchesters.
This is the first '95 and the first Winchester I ever bought. I shot my first deer with this '06 and a pile of other's.
I've always wanted an unalter SRC but there's always something in the way.
This one is supposed to be delivered to my dealer tomorrow. I have all the parts except the rear sight. I know that's gonna cost me when I find one but I have the Saddle ring and handguard ( everyone thought I was crazy paying $50 for the handguard years ago but I knew I'd need it someday).
They were made in 1921 and 1922 for the new one.
Can't wait to get it all together!

Picked up the new one last night. Better condition than expected. Bore is perfect! Looks like it saw a lot of trails and I'd bet it would have some good stories, especially coming from northern Oregon.

I have this one in .30 army. (30/40) It also came sans rear sight. It seems they are usually gone! I had a old friend who put on a Buffington rear sight for me and it works well. We didn't have to use other holes. The handguard wont fit over it though. This did come from Arizona or Texas and I would like to imagine mine was carried by a Arizona or Texas ranger. Bill, I had read somewhere that a Krag or Trapdoor rear sight would fit, Didn't know about the handguard issue though. I'll find the right one eventually, I saw an SRC not long ago that was just about wrecked but still had some of the good parts. Ya never know what can come across when you're looking for it.

Thanks! Seems I recall my friend that gave me the sight may have said it did come off maybe a officers model Springfield. It works fine but is too long for the hand guard opening.

Now that's nice. I'm not a stickler for maintaining one completely original as the original owners changed them to suit themselves.

Agree with you. That's why the one I bought in my 20's is still just like I found it. The stock is very short but I found that even as a knuckle dragger it fit's perfectly when your dressed up in a half dozen layers for deer season in MI or PA. My Grandfather's .35WCF still has the old pad he put on it because he didn't like the crescent butt plates. I've just wanted an original SRC because, to me I think they are just plain cool.
