He's sure having a good time. I expected that revolver to have much more recoil.

My 10" 45-70 was a hoot.....One of the very few shooters I highly regret trading off. It really didn't kick all that bad, sort of. :? 300 grains @ about 1800fps were actually a lot less felt recoil than my 629 with factory-strength 240s, or 180s.

Blaine, did you ever run any heavy-bullet cast loads in your BFR, like the Lyman gummint boolit?

Bill, Blaine and I ran my 525gr PileDrivers through his BFR. I clocked them at, IFIRC, 1310fps. Pretty much a Buffalo Gun. There was a scope on it. It was a hoot! Weighed a little less than my guide gun. 8)

The 600 nitro contender was not controllable but that looks pretty tame.

I also had some of Garrett's finest, can't remember exactly the numbers, but it was 500+ grains at lots of fps  Those were uncomfortable. I started wearing a thin leather glove fairly early on this learning curve.

Yeah, that was a fun gun to shoot. But doesn't look like it was even close to the recoil of the 500 S&W with the heavy loads. The amazing thing is that if you shoot heavy loads you can reduce velocity to subsonic and still have massive performance on the business end. The 525s out of your BFR would have seemed like squib loads if I had dropped the velocity to 1000fps.

I need to send my revolver to Ruger for the trigger fix, then I can ream the cylinder chambers to bore diameter and get an extra 50-some fps from my gentle load of the 405g. It penetrates like a 45/70 with mild recoil.
