Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
Got a set of Parker replacement hammers and screws for my circa 1886 Parker 0 grade top lever 10 gauge . My barrel guy fixed the slightly elevated rib last week but I’m waiting for another set of barrels to be freshened before I go to pick them up . Dave Fjelline of Lincoln CA made the hammers and new retention screws . A little pricey but they look a darn sight better then the Remington hammers someone had put on the gun .

The removed Remington hammers . Those two are going to a friend that’s deep into collecting Remington hammer doubles !

Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
Glad to hear that the rib got fixed and it now has correct hammers, although I do like the style of the Remington hammers but not on a Parker.

Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
The barrel guy in Texas (and I’m not knocking him) wanted $500 to do whatever to the rib . This fellow close to me did it for less then a third of that price . I know three or four people he’s done work for that were quite pleased . So I feel safe in “assuming” he did a good jobgamekeeper wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:38 pm Glad to hear that the rib got fixed and it now has correct hammers, although I do like the style of the Remington hammers but not on a Parker.

If you look closer the two Remington hammers that were on the gun do not match !gamekeeper wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:38 pm Glad to hear that the rib got fixed and it now has correct hammers, although I do like the style of the Remington hammers but not on a Parker.

Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
Got both barrels back today ! The four frame hammer barrels no longer have a loose rib so point of impact oughtta be at a more normal spot , I may shoot them tommorrow at 25 yards to see . The DH barrels look way better then the pictures I was sent .. Two pics of the repaired rib on the four frame ! . And finally a try at the pattern on the DH .

Those look fan-dam-tastic! I'd say you got your money's worth on the repair as well as the refinishing.
Make sure you send that guy a Christmas Card!
Are the hammers new production or are they used?

BROWN LABS MATTER !!
Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
The hammers were newly cast , the molds were made from two original hammers .

Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
Just shot a shot from each barrel at 25 yards using my 00 buck handloads . Not the greatest but acceptable for my parameters and the POI is now where it should be ! Oh yeah these shells were loaded in brand new unfired hulls , that may or may not make a difference.

Nice job on the rib, he obviously knows what he's doing......

Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
Also this time he did a vent rib on a Beretta 682 a drunk friend had whacked across something . While that’s not the same as doing a rib on a SxS he straightened out a mess there as well .gamekeeper wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:50 am Nice job on the rib, he obviously knows what he's doing......![]()

Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
Vent ribs are something I've never fitted, I have a couple of single barrel shotguns that I would like to fit ventilated ribs, I bet it would be too pricey for me and I no longer have facilities to attempt it myself.6pt-sika wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:53 amAlso this time he did a vent rib on a Beretta 682 a drunk friend had whacked across something . Just noticed a small gap in the solder at the muzzle of the Parker, I would fill that to stop any moisture getting in.

Re: Parker 10 gauge #4 frame
Yeah I noticed that when he brought them yesterday . He told me if anything didn't suit me down the road to return them and he'd make it right . After seeing the job he did refinishing the DH barrels I may very well let him refinish these Grade 0 twist barrels and when he does I'll get him to fill it in I think .gamekeeper wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 11:03 am Just noticed a small gap in the solder at the muzzle of the Parker, I would fill that to stop any moisture getting in.

I guess he didn't want to make it look like an obvious repair on the old girl..
