Bowie
I really love the guns from the old west like old Winchester and Marlin leverguns, first generations Colt SAA and so on.... but I also love the Bowie knife.... Unfortunately I do not own an antique Bowie but I got this one a few days ago.... A Randall Bowie.... I must admit that I love it....

Re: Bowie
Nothing at all wrong with a Randall anything!
First one I ever saw in the flesh was an ROTC buddy's Model 14 Attack -- this when the U.S. was still in Vietnam.

I agree - big knives can be addictive.
But, so can a smaller San Francisco (gambler's) Bowie

Re: Bowie
I'm a fan also, and I like the Randall blade shape a lot, and yours has perfect proportions.
Re: Bowie
That Randall Made Bowie is almost too pretty to use. Almost.

Re: Bowie
To my surprise the Trail Master at the top proved excellent for slicing, better than the Bowie under it.

Re: Bowie
Bowies are nice. I have a few. But my favorite big knife blade form is the bolo. That big belly give a heck of a lot more cutting edge to slice through things needing slicing.

Re: Bowie
Nice knives guys. There a few around here too but no pictures due to my laziness. I really like jb's Schofield rig. I owned a Schofield for about 30 minutes once but the offer of a very early Colt SAA in trade for it kept me from owning it longer.

Re: Bowie
I checked that Randall web page a while back. Around 500 bucks and a 5 year wait. The price is good. That wait time is .should just bite the bullet.
Re: Bowie
I know a knife shop that has a good selection of both new and used Randalls. It’s Nordic Kives. They are in Solvang, Ca. They have a good website nordicknives.com. The last one that I didn’t buy in the shop took a whole two days to get.

So many nice knives....
Here is a picture of some of my Bowies.... I guess. the picture say more about my skill as a photographer than anything else....
First my Randall, then Cold Steel Trail master, Cold Steel Trail master stag, Hugo Köller, Fällkniven Tor, Fällkniven Odin....
Pitchy, please tell me more about the military bayonet....
You guys with Bowies from Linder.... Please, tell me about them.... I mean, quality and so on.... I have my eyes on a nice Linder Bowie but know next to nothing about them therefore my questions.... Stefan

Re: Bowie
Not much to tell Hombre, its a modern day version US Army bayonet i don`t remember where i got it probably Ebay.
They are heavy and bulky imo not one i`d carry much, i bought the Linder around 25 years ago it`s ok but imo the blade is thin.

Hombre, the quality and workmanship of mine is excellent.
Re: Bowie
Jeepnik thanks for the Nordic knives link. Looked at others besides Randall and those items got out of my tax bracket pretty quick

Might call these kitchen Bowies. One almost 100, the other new from France.

Re: Bowie
I feel that a Bowie knife belongs in every sportsman's gear bag. Mine is a Buck model 119 with a custom sheath. I do not use it very much as I prefer a folding hunter for dressing and skinning deer.

Jason, I used to linger a long time looking at that big beauty by Case in the hardware stores. The SVÖRD looks incredibly purposeful.
Jeepnik, I confess it comes as a shock that California still permits the sale and ownership of knives. But for how long?
