Interesting 22 LR versions of Military Rifles...

From the NRA show.
If the prices are decent, these would be great starter guns for a serious 'gun' kid (the less-serious ones or really young ones might want a lighter weight gun).

I have a Polish single shot Mosin Nagant trainer that is chambered in 22 lr. Great shooting firearm, built to adult size more or less (I'm guessing they were meant to train teens). I have enjoyed that as much or more then the MN I have owned.

I actually like the Nagant version. The Arisaka version would really tempt me tho. Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

They look kinda cool but I wouldn't want one in kids size.
I do like that Polish trainer though, the extractor is similar to my Webley .22 shotgun, if not a perfect fit it will cause bulging or rupturing cases.

As you said interesting but a little expensive. I guess there is a market for them but I have the full size versions of all of them to play with. I also have a Polish trainer and yes they were for teens. My wife trained on one in gymnasium (high school in the USA) and recognized it as I came through the door with it. I don't know how extensive her training was but she has scored 100% on identifying any Soviet Block firearm I have brought home.

Of course a cartridge/chamber adapter could allow the use of a real-caliber one, if you already had one; some can use 32 caliber pistol cartridges in a .30-06 or whatever insert/adapter.

I have a French MAS 36 training rifle in .22 LR. It has a full size chamber and a .22 bore using an adaper to hold the .22 round. Unfortunatly I have never been able to find an adapter to fire it with. If anyone knows where I could find one I would be grateful.
As far as the rest of the military rifles go I'm quite satisfied to fire them in their original chambering.

I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.
Re: Interesting 22 LR versions of Military Rifles...
I heard about these on a podcast I was listening to this week. They said that the company making them is the same company that makes the little Cricket rifles for kids.

I got one of the "special edition" ones last week. It is supposed to come in a wooden crate serial numbered to the rifle and some other "special" additions. I was contacted by Keystone and was in fact able to choose my own serial number. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone told me they are expecting to ship well before Christmas. When it comes in I will show some pictures and a range report.

I wonder what the LOP on one of those scaled down stocks might be?
Didn't see that info on the website.
