This has been a fun project. I can’t imagine making one without the use of electricity or modern tools.

Looks great Chuck, yep you would have to be Roy Underhill to make one by hand. :)

amazing work, I own an Excalibur matrix but prefer the traditional look. Not a fan of all the tacticool stocks modern crossbows have.

Grizz , it’s only 150# bow. I originally ordered a 250# but the maker had an operation on his foot and was out for a couple months.
I contacted him and took this one that he had in stock. I have no idea on bolt speed. It is just a fun project and a wall hanger in
the end. I have a large box crammed full of rags in my shop to shoot into. It barely stops the bolts before the vanes go in all the way. I think it would kill a Deer at close range but that is not in my plans.

Thanks for info. That's almost 4x the draw weight of my straight bow. I plan to make a crossbow like yours for when I can't shoot stick bows. Nice work, high quality craftsmanship.

Thanks guys !
Some people don’t understand that due to the short draw distance of a crossbow they don’t accelerate an arrow nearly as well as
a regular bow does. A non compound crossbow needs two to three times the draw weight of a long bow to achieve similar velocity.
Compound crossbows are a different animal due to the cam action and come much closer to the velocity of a regular bow
Pound for pound.
Today I am making the little clip that holds the bolt in place during firing.
