OT Centennial series at Amazon

Post by clubkey »

Several years ago a 12 part made for TV series "Centennial" based on the book by James A. Michener was broadcast on National TV. It's the fictional story of the birth and growth of the city of Centennial, Colorado from the Indians to the Mountain Men/Trappers to the Old West up to modern day America. IMHO it's one of the best and I'd rank this series right up there with Lonesome Dove.

Anyway, Ive always wanted to own this series, but the VHS version was cost prohibitive and up until now it was never made in a DVD version. Approximately 4 years ago while doing an Internet search for the series I asked the folks at Amazon to contact me if this series was ever put on a DVD. This morning I received an email from Amazon stating that the series will be available on DVD in June of 2008 and so I pre-ordered.

Thanks Amazon.com!

If you are interested just contact Amazon and I'm sure they'll accept a pre-order.

clubkey,

I believe I remember that series too.

If you don't mind, what did Amazon want for the DVD set? If you don't wanna answer that's OK.

Hey Joe,

Good morning Sir!

The cost posted in the email I received is $42.00 and I actually made a mistake on the date it would be available, it's July not June as I stated in my previous post.

Actually IMHO 42 bucks is pretty cheap when you consider that $300.00 is the current listed price for the VHS version. I bet that price will drop considerably once the DVD version is on the market.

Thanks for asking Joe. I guess I should have added the price to my original email and actually posting the correct release date would have been a big help. Not getting old gracefully!

Yep, it'll be out in August. I placed my order today. I've been waiting for this one for a long time. It was the first TV mini series.

Mr. Smith,

Have you seen the series before cause it sure is a good one and well worth the watching. You and me both been waiting a long time. I never until now realized it was the first TV mini series and watched it the first time around quite by accident, but never missed one episode after that first one. Great movie!
