Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
I've been doing this for 20 years or more.
Tiger Balm rubbed in with a drop or two of DMSO.
It's legal here so I've been adding some CBD Oil.
The DMSO is a solvent that will carry the medication deep into your body. It works, and it's been proven time and time again to do no harm. They use it in Sports Medicine and on multi-million dollar race horses. They have a pharmaceutical grade now. Look on Amazon. Use it.
What else do you Achey Auld Pharts use?

Blaine you forgot to mention that you can taste DMSO the instant it hits your skin- could cause some folks to panic.

There are several 'anti-inflammatory' diets that can help quite a bit, but you have to stick with them. Most folks would just rather take pills, though. (then of course they complain about the cost of the pills, or the side effects.... ).

Re: Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
Now this interest me.
I'm only 76 but I have body/joint aches and pains most of the time. My doctor has never offered any help, he just suggests Tylenol. Now it does seem to help a little but I still cannot turn my head without discomfort and when I stand up from a seated position it hurts and takes me a while to get moving and it takes me forever to get down or up from the floor. I feel like I'm still to young for this, maybe not. I've got older friends that don't have this trouble. Would like some help.

Plus, do some yoga - it seems hokey, but it really does help. I can't be around the virtue-signaling socialist yuppies that seem to infest local yoga classes long enough to do a yoga class, but my wife manages to dumb it down enough for me to do at home.

Re: Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
+1 to that! It's been working well for me, so I'll continue using it.
Used to be, if I really wrenched my hands using hand tools over a weekend, my hands and wrists would ache almost all of the following week. And now, with the supplements onboard (taken every night), even if I really crank on a wrench or something over the weekend, I might be a little sore on Sunday night, but early in the week I'm back to normal. It's worked out great for me!
Previously, I was taking Fish Oil which was of some help, but then a report came out possibly linking that to increased risk for Prostate Cancer for men -- so I made the switch (due to serious urging by my wife & daughter).

With one or two drops it's not too bad. But, yeah.

I have used shark cartilage for my friend arthritis and it has been a help. Bit spendy at health food stores but takes the edge off.Comes in powder form in capsules take it with a cup of water.

I’ve had soft tissue knee pain for decades (note to self, Do Not edit a helo at approximately 30’ AGL ever again). All my current doc wants to suggest is physical therapy. Insisted on seeing specialist he did his exam gave me a shot and told me to come back if it flared up again.
Looking for a new doctor.

I use and have recommended Emu oil to several friends and they have had positive results from knee pains to heel spurs.

Re: Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
I've been using Pain Wizard, made in Colorado, with good result. Someone here recommended it several years ago. Might have been Doc.
They just came out with a recipe that includes CBD, but I am not sure I want to pay the extra until I know more about actual therapeutic dosing.
Gas stations in Oregon used to sell DMSO, and some may still do so. I never looked beyond the word "solvent," thinking this can't be healthy. But I'll look deeper into this.
By the way, a lot of those gas stations now advertise "growler fills," so it seems they are still in the business of alleviating pain!

Re: Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
Pain Wizard is really great. First time my wife ordered some I hadn't heard of it; saw the name on the box and thought maybe it was some kind of adult novelty item, and that she'd got to that middle-age thing where women get really wild in the bedroom... .
Sadly, it was just liniment.....but it does help sore muscles and joints.
We'll have to try the new kind.

Sounds like the VA, without the shot. PT did nothing but throw out my back for a couple weeks and make the knee worse.jeepnik wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 9:54 am I’ve had soft tissue knee pain for decades (note to self, Do Not edit a helo at approximately 30’ AGL ever again). Re: Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
As I understand it the Emu Oil mostly enables a transdermal action that carries the other active ingrediants deep into the body. That's what the DMSO does. DMSO and MSM are closely related and are generally recognized as beneficial for inflamation and joint pain.Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 11:20 am I've been using Pain Wizard, made in Colorado, with good result. Re: Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
Just wondrin'. I looked on Amazon and saw a bunch of different DMSO types. Some were "pharmaceutical grade" and about $14 per 3 1/2 oz bottle to a 16 oz bottle for $17. One of these is either a very good deal or a diluted concentration. So, what do you fellers use/recommend?

"They" say the pharm grade is more pure. I bought a pint of the stuff at a tack shop 20 years ago and still using it. I'm tempted to get the pharm grade....Just a drop of two seems to be more than enough.mikld wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:01 pm Just wondrin'. I looked on Amazon and saw a bunch of different DMSO types. Re: Excellent Non-Script Joint Relief
That is correct. Use only "pharm" grade, more formally known as USP/NF (United States Pharmacopeia or National Formulary) grades. These are highly refined and analytically tested grades suitable for pharmaceutical use and meet the specifications for quality, purity and strength as specified by the USP/NF. Please do not use any "technical" or industrial grades as these may contain toxic or otherwise harmful impurities. DMSO is an extremely potent solvent that is readily absorbed through the skin and will carry any impurities or related compounds across the dermal barrier into your body. I am unaware of any available food grade (FCC) or cosmetic grades (CTFA) available. You might use, but I do not recommend using, Certified A.C.S Reagent Grade DMSO that meets the specifications of the American Chemical Society. While ACS reagent grade is usually very pure and well assayed for strength and purity, there is no guarantee made that is free from impurities thus making it safe for pharmaceutical applications or for bodily contact.BlaineG wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:53 pm"They" say the pharm grade is more pure. My grandmother swore by bee stings to help her rheumatoid arthritis. She used to raise flowers in part of the garden just to draw bees for that purpose.
