To me the .410 is OK, but the 28 ga really shines. The shells are about the same price as a .410. Still more that 12 or 20.

The 28 gauge with a 3/4 ounce shot charge IS one of the most ballistically efficient shotgun rounds .

I've more then likely said this before but when I shot skeet competitively the 28 gauge was the first gauge I went 100 straight with , the 28 gauge was also the gauge I usually carried the highest average each year .

28 has been my favorite for many years as well. I always shot better skeet scores with a 28 too! I'm a a shotgun shooter by trade, now I shoot Olympic trap competitively and we use 24 gram of shot - about 13/16s of shot- not far off of 20&28 shot charges and targets break just fine. It's funny, the ATA shooters that try the bunker swear they couldn't hit targets with a 24 g load. It's not the load it's timing!
I digress, 28 is great and 410s are FUN,

The first time I used a 28 gauge ( it was only a s/b full choke ) I was surprised how good it was, I was tempted to get the Investarm O/U in 28 instead of the .410 I recently bought, now I find Investarm make the O/U with a 28 gauge barrel over a .410 barrel and with double triggers that I prefer.
I'm not sure what the point of it is but it would suit me .

Probably ten years ago I handled a Ruger Red Label O/U in 28 gauge, built on a small 28 ga frame.....what a sweetie it was. One of the guns on my "shoulda" list for sure.

Yup love my Red Label 28!

GK- there is a company now making a tri- barrel in 410,28, cant remember the name now. It's your usual SxS with the 3rd barrel as the top rib. The reviews were good.

Thanks Gunny, I found some for sale over here but at $1588.00 I'll pass for now, I'd like to see how well they hold up with heavy use.

Wow that seems higher priced then I remember the MSRP. But I suppose you have import fees as well.
Now if they made it 410 on top of SxS 28 it would be the best of both worlds!
