Fox trouble again, it's been quiet for a while but they are back to killing chickens again at my neighbor's farm.

Great stuff, Nath. Question: When were Chinese ring-necked pheasants introduced in England. The first successful introduction in the United States as a few miles from where I was born in Oregon, in 1882, although the first attempt was in 1881.

Great photos as always, Nath. I especially enjoyed the snipe photo as it has been a good many years since I have bagged one of those here in California. As of January 2019, the liberals in charge are requiring non-toxic shot and projectiles for all hunting in California. Since I cannot shoot steel shot in my smooth bore flintlock, and Bismuth is far too expensive, I will continue to enjoy muzzleloader hunting vicariously through your photos!

Good question.
I had to look and shamefully copied it;
The pheasant is not native to Britain, but has a long history of residence here. There is some debate over the success of various possible introductions dating back to the Romans, but it is generally agreed that pheasants were common by the 15th century.

Piller, I actually shot a limit of Wilson's jacksnipe once many, many years ago, but was not fond of the very dark meat that results from their worm diet. Fun to push them up though with their charming call and corkscrew flight.

Yes Jerry, different birds. Woodcock are slightly bigger and mostly stay in the woods by day. Feeding at night.

Snipe like to hang around marsh, swamp, wet meadows by day and feed over 24 hours .

Thanks I thought the woodcocks I hunted in Michigan growing up was a bigger bird. They went good with a couple of Ruffed grouse and a rabbit or two.
