Selling a gun that aint performing
I bought a chiappa double badger which is like a sporterised version of the old springfield survival rifle. Break action 410 under 22LR. Well it doesn't shoot too well with several brands and the pin is also soft striking certain brands in the 22LR. I've gone off the idea of combination rifles now, functioning or otherwise and would just like to get rid of it. I'm guessing the best idea is get it sent back for warranty to sort out the firing pin then selling whatever they send me back. What's the proper way to go here folks.I don't really want to sell some guy a rifle that aint functioning well...

Re: Selling a gun that aint performingz
Personally I would sell such a gun with the proviso that it may require a new firing pin which is reflected in the price.
If I went to the trouble of fixing it then the price would go back up.

Send it back for warranty, be sure to tell them how you are displeased with the poor quality, accuracy.
If they care about the end users in any way they will probably make good. Could be a bad FP, maybe the barrel connection is not up to QC standard. You wont know until they see it.
When you get it back try the same ammo/ accuracy test. Then if its still not up to your standard sell it.

And, you can sell it without even firing it after you get it back with the confidence that it is going to be factory certified perfect. You’ll have the paperwork to support your confidence if you’re inclined to share it with the buyer.

Do you know what, if it were mine I would whip that pin out and relieve a few thou so it travelled a little further into the case rim and polish the crown.
If that worked you may keep it and if not it would be sold in sound condition.

.
FWIW, I bought a new Chiappa Double Badger .22WMR/.410 a few years ago, and it's been just about perfect.
The only complaint I had was that it was hard to swing open & the trigger pull was gritty - all of which I was able to remedy via a deep cleaning & lube.
However, if it had the issues you're having, I would have returned it under warranty with the explanation letter mentioned earlier by GunnyMack.
The factory may either repair it, or replace it (whatever).
When you get it back, do what you have to do, w/o having anything on your conscience.

I'd send it back for warranty work.
And then …… well that would be up to you and what you want.
One potential option if they replace it with a new rifle would be donate it. Scouts, Friends of the NRA, local range, church groups, etc are always looking for stuff to raffle off to raise money. A new combo gun might be appreciated.
Any way it was just a thought.

If it's under warranty, then fix it first. It will be less headache for you and the future buyer. I wouldn't want the dark cloud hanging over a potential sale of having to sell with a caveat that it needs work and I didn't do it.
