Mossberg Maverick??

Post by Nath »

Only ever handled one years ago but forget that!
One has come up locally for sale, it has a 30" tube!

Anyway, I fancy making a slug gun up cheaply!

What options are there for sights for a maverick?

You guys know everything hence me asking?

The Maverick made by Mossberg is simply a less expensive Mossberg 500. My brother has had one for over 25+ years, they work... :)

Nath, I would use the EASY button, and buy/install a Mossberg 500 open-sighted slug barrel or a cantilever scope mount barrel - ergo making a two-barrel combo.

If gauge of the Maverick is a 12ga, here's a few barrels for sale (there's also 20ga bbls available, too).

+1 on the rifled slug barrel with the cantilevered scope. My Mossberg 500 has that spare barrel and it is plenty accurate out to 100 yards with saboted slugs. I haven,t tried it any further than 100 yards, but the 1 1/2 to 2 inch groups at 100 yards with all 3 brands I have been able to find and shoot gives promise of plenty good accuracy for a few more feet. The kick isn't fun.

Go to Havlin Corp and check out what they have available. I suspect they have exactly the stuff you are looking for to make the Maverick what you want.

P.S. I personally like the MaxiMount for a slug gun with the new red dots and compact 2x to 4x scopes available. You can find it under "Tactical Accessories"
