Santa Clause had a weak moment last week and it showed up today !

So now uhm Santa Claus has these bad boys in 243 , 270 , 308 and 06 . And that just happens to be the order in which they magically appeared

You gotta love the CLAUS-man he always brings good gifts to the deserving...and sometimes to the not so deserving... :)

Well sir when I bought this rifle right away I ordered a set of copy Redfield bases from the guy that makes them in Indiana . Also got a nice old Leupold Vari XII 3-9 off Gunbroker . When the gun arrived I saw it hadn’t been drilled and tapped so I cajoled my gunsmith buddy into doing it this morning . Friday I took the scope bases and rings from my Mannlicher Schoenauer 243 . He got it all taken care of by 10:00 . I went in to the shop and mounted the scope and bore sighted . Then headed to the range . I had two boxes REM 150 CoreLokts two boxes WIN 150 Power Points and two boxes REM 165 CoreLokts . Got it where I wanted it at 50 and 100 yards with the REM 150’s , then tried the WIN 150’s they were pretty much the same POI . After playing a bit with my AR 22LR I then tried the REM 165’s and they were about the same POI . So now I’m up my tree and the rifles loaded with a REM 150 for the first shot a WIN 150 for the second shot and three REM 165’s .

After hunting season is over I’ll work up loads with the Nosler 150 and 165 BT’s as well as the Hornady 150 and 165 SST’s . Once I’ve killed a deer with each of those bullets I’ll most likely try Nosler Accubands in both weights .
