Re: Anaconda crossing the road
Well now we know why the chicken crossed the road. To get away from the anaconda!

I'm no snake lover, but they have a grandeur and beauty all their own. God put them here for a reason. I'd hate to hit one.

Re: Anaconda crossing the road
I wouldn't kill one, but I'd sure try to AVOID them though...and I'm thinking they probably aren't as shy as the normal-sized snakes where I live...!

God put mosquitoes here too, does that mean you won't kill one of them?

Re: Anaconda crossing the road
I have never heard of an Anaconda around the Dallas area. Should I see one in my yard, I would call animal control. They are not native to the area and should be removed. If I were to see one out in the wild, well, I would seriously think about whether or not anyone I know might want some snake to cook. One in my yard might have to die if it attacks anyone. I would shoot it. If it were to hang out near my home too long and animal control ignore it, it would get a whole raw chicken with a filling of chewing tobacco. Nicotine is deadly to reptiles.

Merle, people are part of the ecosystem. Sometimes we have to be eaten, too. Welcome to the food chain. When I croak, I hope to be able to ask God about his thoughts behind mosquitos, fleas and ticks.
Re: Anaconda crossing the road
In South FL the big constrictors are becoming a big problem killing pets, wildlife, and livestock. No human deaths have been reported yet.
Re: Anaconda crossing the road
I was stationed at Ft Clayton, Panama for a couple years. We were on the jungle road (the only road) between Panama City, and Colon. Our bus had to wait for one that stretched the full width of the somewhat narrow road. Even on post, I'd carry a strong flashlight back from the NCO club at dark, and after I tripped over a snake that was as thick as my leg, I kept to the street. Every dang thing down there would bite, sting, or kill ya. 10' caymen...killer African Bees.....Sheesh.

Machado, pretty cool posts. Was wondering if you were still posting here. At least anacondas belong there, tho i cant help think how boots and hat bands could be made out that one. Todd/3leg

Blaine, you forgot the Bushmaster. Deadly and aggressive.
With all the stuff in Panama that bites, stings, squeezes you to death, has thorns, or can otherwise ruin your day, it is really a wonder as to how humans had colonized that place in the stone age.

Yes, still on the manifest. Re: Anaconda crossing the road
I'm going to show these pictures to my wife, who considers anything over the size of an earthworm to be a snake - a "big snake". Maybe she'll stop bugging me about the little snakes in our yard.
Maybe not!
