Maybe. I had wanted to go to the Blade Show in Atlanta, but am on a wait-and-see basis now, trying to determine how many old friends will be there. I am on a seven-week vacation now, which will last until mid-June, and had hoped to do two multi-state road trips, but may settle for just one. There are other factors involved besides fuel cost, but fuel looms as a bigger issue these days. There is much of Texas and Louisiana I have yet to see, or want to see again, so this year I may stay closer to home. My main goal this year was to get my health back, anyway. By next year, I may have a more fuel-efficient vehicle, as it is time to start letting my old Jeep rest a bit more.
Have Colts, will travel.

We were going to stay home but my wife has an aunt who is going into a home in WV. We really need to go see her before it's too late.

We are going to stay pretty close to the fire. The RV will stay parked, no doubt. I have a Vietnam reunion in Dayton Ohio in October, it's over 1500 miles one way so we will probably be better off flying.

Vacation? What vacation?

"IF" I'm lucky, I'll make a weekend trip to northern IN twice in the coming months.

"IF" I'm really really lucky, my wife will win the lottery and we can have a vacation.

Last year I towed my 5th wheel to the E. Sierra's about 6 times. This year I'll be lucky to do it twice with diesel prices.
On another note, today I read where Chrysler/Dodge would guarantee $2.99 a gallon for three years with the purchase of certain vehicles including diesel trucks. I don't know what the savings would be but it's worth thinkin about. I like my Ford 250 but at $4.50 a gallon the Dodge don't look that bad!

I've been waiting on this trip for several years, so I'm still planning to go. A little over 2000 miles round trip.

No. I need the break. We drive a Suburban too, so it will guzzle the gas. Still, at once or twice per year, a vacation is worth it even with gas doubled over the last several years. Still a ton cheaper than flying!!!

no - not really - we'll head to our camp in north-central Pennsylvania a few times to camp and fly fish - and will be spending the customary week at the beach somewhere in Delware or Maryland - probably Ocean City Maryland

I am heading with a friend to Bradford, PA in July, Case Knife swapmeet, I am looking forward to it. I prefer to drive but I paid for airline tickets and hotel rooms for less than the gas would cost.

In August I am taking my 9 year old daughter on a train vacation up the east coast.
We have friends and family to visit in Washington D.C., Baltimore, Wilmington, and Rhode Island.

We rented a house at Cape Henry, Virginia for a week in August. This is just north of Virgina Beach. We're sharing the house with another family and travelling together to share fuel cost. I'm hoping for a day of deep sea fishing.

We enjoyed a vacation to Germany's Black Forest with this family in 2003. We saw red deer in velvet! But current EURO exchange rate is scary - I can't afford another trip to Europe with my weak USA dollars.

My sister has Mom's 80th B-Day party in planning stage. Looks like we're headed to midwest in September so I didn't apply for Wyoming elk this year.

If I don't take a break every once in a while, it wears on me. I simply have to do it.....sometimes have to force myself to do it.

It really does not matter what it costs, it is worth it.

I gave up on long vacations once we got livestock and I found i couldn't be away from work very long without 'pileup' of paperwork, so I just schedule a four-day weekend about four times a year. That, plus most weekends free, gives me plenty of time for goof-off. Of course we live the same place I hunt and garden, which helps.

I'd like though to take a month off someday and drive all over the West...

Nope. I don't give a stuff how high gas gets I haven't had a vacation in quite a while. Last vacation I got was when my son was born three years ago.

We're going to Biloxi (sp?) Beach Mississippi for a least a few days.

You spelled it correctly, but you should drive another 100 miles and visit us at Pensacola Beach. Much whiter sand and the water is clearer, and our last hurricane was in 2004 instead of 2005, like Biloxi.

For once I was ahead of the ball game. We purchased our airline tickets to go to Disney World back when gas prices were dirt cheap compaired to what they are now. As a matter of fact, we almost have the trip paid for already and we dont leave until August. We wanted to make this a big vacation because my oldest is a Junior in HS and will soon be depleting our extra cash for college.
