Marlin 1892/39 help
Do any of you know if a scope base for a model 39 Marlin will fit an original 1892 Marlin and/or a model 97. I would sit down and measure them but at deer camp so guns are not here. Thanks. No they aren’t going to stay on just for load development and 22 ammo choices.

None of the guns before 1954 were D&T for scope mounts when they left the factory. I sure wouldn't add holes on an early Marlin if it didn't already have them. If yours has been D&T then it's tough to say if whoever did so did the holes the same as the later 39A was done.

If it is D&T but not by factory just get a 1 piece weaver base and put holes where ever you need them. If I had a mill I'd make custom bases for odd things, cantilever, 2 piece whatever! Sadly I don't have a mill, or room for one!!

Re: Marlin 1892/39 help
Thanks gunny. I kinda let that thread drop for a little as the guns are a couple hundred miles east of my current location and I don’t know for sure they were d&t. EGW will sell blanks also and my gunsmith that made my 45/70 into a takedown has a mill and he’s not afraid to use it and charge accordingly
. I am with you if you could find a niche and do all the R&D once and you are the only place to get a widget even for an obscure old levergun you might be able to make a couple bucks. Not worth it for a big company but a small shop MAYBE and you could help old fanny burbs get old shooters up and running again . That’s gotta be worth something right there.
