Accurate .307 loads
I know we have a guys here who have done some experimenting with a .307 Winchester, however I can't remeber who they are. I posted a couple of days ago about the Barnes bullets I'm getting ready to load, and I'm hoping to get some idea's about which powders to start with. I used to have a really accurate load with 150gr sierra's, always shot into an inch for me, but it's been a few years and I can't remember the powder I was using, it may have been 3031. If I could get some recommendations that have worked well for others here, that would be great.
Go to www.shootersforum.com . Look under rifle cartridges and there is a 307 thread. It is the most imformative thread you will read on the 307. William iorg seems to be the 307 guru.

RL15 is a good candidate, but I have no use with it yet. Brand new can at home unopened, and still no reloads with it.

No doubt that RL 15 is the speed king for 150 grain bullets. If you can get it to shoot well in your rifle you will beat most other powders by over 100fps. My 307 was shooting a max load of 45 grains of RL 15 behind a speer 150grain bullet. Out of the 20 inch barrel it was good for over 2650fps.
Barnes bullets are a different animal. Since they are all copper they will be quit a bit longer. That will change your formula. The problem with using RL 15 is that they do not post loads for the 307.
