loc-tite peep sight screw threads or...
I keep shooting that redfield loose on my 71 carbine. Even tried a couple of strands of monofiliment fishing line to lock the screws. Do you guys use blue loc-tite on peep sight screw threads?
Thanks,
Terry

I forget all the colors, but yes...the kind that's rated to hold, but break free when required without much effort.

Dip a toothpick into blue and apply it to the threads on tiny screws. It helps to degrease both male & female threads first.
Or you could try crazy glue but it's not as removable as loctite.
Whatever you do dont ever, EVER use the green stuff! Not even heat will free a screw with green on it!! A color blind buddy of mine used it on his bow sights, had to get a new sight since he could no longer get the pins loose- even with a torch heating it.

Here's the spec's for all the "threadlockers".

Just don't use "Black Max" unless you absolutely never want it to be removed.....ever.

Try "O" rings. Find your size at your local hardware store. Works for me.

I have used Blue Loc-tite on my receiver sights for ..... oh well nigh on to 10 lustrums now. never had a bit of trouble with them coming loose or being removed when (on very rare occasion) I needed to remove them.

I use purple loctite on the small screws. If you want to take them back out, heat with a butane lighter and it will turn the loctite liquid again. Butane lighter will not hurt the bluing.

This
Blue is easy on small screws too but I have purple for just this use.
Kind regards,

.
But be cautious - my blue Loctite came in a red bottle, so ignore the color of the container & concentrate on the color of the Loctite.

When my dad worked for Reynolds Aluminum, he used to help himself to 8 oz bottles of the red lock tite. I've been using the same bottle for 30 years. Like others have said, a touch with a propane torch loosens it up.---6

On stuff you don't to touch with a flame, heat the driver head. Should do the trick.

For your use, semi-permanent, blue loc-tite will work best. I have used clear silicone caulk/sealant on screws that will eventually be removed on/around the much vibrating engine on my boat.
