Mad was a cornerstone of my personal reading program in the late 50s and early 60s to which I attribute the warped, dry, absurd sense of humor I have today. I still have the paperback reprints of stories and cartoons done in the magazine in the early to mid 50s. Then in high school, the USMC, and college I graduated to National Lampoon.

I still have a bunch of late-50s/early 60s copies of Mad from my "formative" years. I have heard that they ended up going very liberal later on. I don't know if they're still out there.
Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you somethin'. That ain't an optical illusion, it only LOOKS LIKE an optical illusion.
