Mary Ellis, Spitfire pilot.

Post by gamekeeper »

Mary Ellis passed away on Tuesday aged 101, she flew Spitfires and bombers during WW2 delivering new planes from the factories to the airfields around Britain. Mary was one of many women pilots that helped keep the RAF flying and fighting.
Rest in peace brave lady.

Prayers for on heck of a lady.

On a side note, that was also one of my dad's favorites from that time. I think it summed up a lot of people's feelings.

To paraphrase Johnny Horton's song "Jim Bridger", but I doubt if we'd be here if it were not for women like Mary.

She earned her place in history. Rest In Peace!
