SUCCESS!- Who in their right mind glues a
RECOIL pad!
Decided I was going to take the Rizzini apart to clean & lube it. (Besides I'm curious as to how it is sprung, flat or coil)
So come to find out there are no screws on the recoil pad. Xacto knife high center of pad so I can stick my chink 'bore cam' in the thru bolt hole of stock.
Nope it's not a slotted screw, not an allen it's a hex bolt. Has to be metric being Italian made.
Of course I dont have a 1/4" metric socket that fits!!
Question is do I really want to cut the rubber off, chisel the black spacer off the wood...

Maybe make a big round clean hole in it, then plug the hole later with a rubber stopper trimmed to fit...?

Gunny,
I'm surprised that a man of your esteem as a professional guncrank would asks that. I know, it's a trick question.
I know what my favorite tools are...after trying to do it in a normal fashion......a 32 ounce ball peen hammer or a crow bar, sometimes a 10 lb. sledgehammer.......got a carburetor off of my pick up with that last one some years back.
In your case I'd run that baby through a band saw reeeeaaaaalllll close, about a 1/16" from the wood.-----6

Re: Who in their right mind glues a
Oh I've seen lots of glued pads- I hate glued pads!
My Perazzi trap gun had a glued pad (from the factory).
I know a bottle of glue goes a lot further than a bag of screws but if you need to get a stock off it's just a PITA.
These Rizzini scatterguns leave the factory with wood butt plates so this pad was aftermarket.
Only reason for a recoil pad on a 28 is for length of pull.
So I'm going to have to cut the pad off to remove the stock for a clean & lube.
The LOP is good for me with the pad so I'll have to now get and fit a pad.

After all of the problems with My eyes in the last few years, I decided that a 28 gauge was the way to go. got the gun, reloader, wads, and 1k primers. not a high end gun but it sure does shoot and fit's Me to a T. and the recoil pad is screwed on.

Re: Who in their right mind glues a
The first 28 I owned was a Remington 11-48. That shotgun accounted for lots of small game.
Then I bought a Red Label so I could shoot sub gauge for sporting clays.
Then I got into the fish & game club, the club requires break open guns. The Red Label fits the bill but I got the SxS bug, buying the CZ 410, used with good results but it's just NOT a 28. Had to get a SxS 28- very few on the market and all are pricey!
The 28 Parker I got to look at was WAY outta my pay grade!

Re: SUCCESS!- Who in their right mind glues a
Stopped in at auto parts store this morning to pick up 1/4" metric sockets- clerk tells me 9 bucks , but the tag said 16? They are having a 50% off sale! Works for me.
Anyhow I just figured out the thru bolt is a 10mm hex head. Turn out the bolt and remove the stock to find a very clean and dry receiver. I did put a few drops of oil on pivot points. Decided not to tear it apart since it's so clean. This hasn't seen much ammo, I'll fix that!
However, I discovered it has mechanical trigger- NO inertia block. Firing pin protrusion is good, springs are strong. I'm liking this gun more & more!

I'm with Sixgun.
Cut that silly thing off and then re-do it the right way.

Fortunately the slice I put in the pad practically disappears. I may replace the pad, I may not...
Other than the color change from the sockets going in and out the slice it's hardly visible.
