Need data for obsolete powder please.
A friend came up with some Winchester 780BR powder that is clean and smells fine. Long obsolete but he wants to load it in his .270 behind 130 gr. Bullets. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !

Re: Need data for obsolete powder please.
I thought I could help you because I have several old Winchester load books. The first edition (1973) doesn't have any powders slower than 760. And my next book which doesn't mention edition number is dated 1976 and it shows loads for 785. That 780BR must have come and gone real quick!

I see it is next slowest after Norma 204 in burn rate. Contact Olin?

Re: Need data for obsolete powder please.
Okay guys, sorry it took me so long to get around to it but I have a Lyman 45th manual that does list loads for "most popular rifle calibers" using 760BR. 270/130 grain jacketed: 48 grains 2717 fps; max: 55 grains 3105 fps.
Woops, wrong powder. They do list 780BR for 308, 30-06 etc but not for 270.

That 45th Lyman manual came out in 1970. It does list loads for 308 and 30-06 if any of those interest you. I'd be happy to send you copies of any part you're interested in. Just let me know.
