Saw a flashy, sleek little beauty that fit right in my hands....
Great balance....appears to be very dependable.... Built like the proverbial brick outhouse.... I can tell she wants to come home with me.
But I have a hard time justifying a Marlin 1895GS! I hunt nothing bigger than deer and black bear and the .308 has never let me down.
Lust...Lust...Lust............

When's the last time you seen a 308 throw a 300 grain bullet over 2,200 fps, or a 400 to 1,800+fps. 150 grain bullets at 2,800, wake up and smell the coffee.
I believe you are in denial. Get help, a 1895 GS would be a start. Others soon to follow.
Gentlemen:
You are not helping....
What will happen to the Win 94 trapper in 44 mag.? Am I to just ignore her and forget all the times that she was there for me?
But thinking back to yesterday.... that hard and bright finish....the throw of the lever... comes right to the shoulder.... sights so true, bright and straight.... I fear I will never be the same.....

Go for it!! I hunt deer with my 1895GS 45-70/457WW Mag and it is a wonderful deer rifle. It does less meat damage than a 30-30, 06, .308, 243, etc. Punches a clean hole and kills them instantly!! I can hunt Grizzly with it too! An all around rifle indeed!
Always good to have a second rifle just in case there's a problem with the first one.

You are all so right! What was I thinking!
.............Go to Gunstore on Monday.....................buy until the card will not accept anymore...................
Actually, I bought a FoxPro call electronic caller instead of the GS on Saturday (rifle was cheaper). But I will tell you it was worth every penny!
I have been calling crows and coyotes for while with the reed bullbog from Primo and it is a real hit and miss.
Not with the Fox Pro..... I played a crow challenge, followed by a crow gathering........then a rabbit in distress...followed by a crow fight..
The place looked like a scene from Hitchcocks "The Birds". It was almost scary..... crows diving at the caller and collecting in the trees.
I am going to try and call up some coyotes in the morning.
Still probably going to get the GS but the caller came first.....

I've been wanting a "Fox Pro" too...sounds like fun!
I'll be flying to GA on May 14th for our 10th 3/5 1st Marine Division Vietnam Vets Reunion. We meet at West Point Lake near LaGrange, GA.

If you need to stop an Impala (low rider) the Beartooth 525 gr boolits work well in an urban setting. Just don't stick around having pictures taken with your "trophy" when the SWAT team shows up!

Semper Fi...My son was a Marine...I was just a lowly Army ranger
I am about 75 miles north of LaGrange but if you boys get too rowdy...give me a call.... I'll post bail
I will post info. about the coyote hunt. This afternoon I made the wife's cats hunt for cover when I cranked up the coyote bark and stopped a squirrel dead in his tracks in the yard with a squirrel bark. This thing is loads of fun and I haven't even gone hunting yet!
As a war veteran, Thank you for the service to our country.

This is an easy decision, right while the bucks are going down in value, that rifle is going up in value. You gotta stop the hemmoraghing fast, grab that Marlin 45-70 while you feel good about it. I'll probably finally get a new 1895 Cowboy soon, one last hoorah for this year.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as the worms.

I have many rifles that could go hunting, but the Scout Scoped GS is what usually goes out the door, with the '06 along side as back up or a clear cut shooter....
