Not a Levergun...
But, yesterday, I reserved two of the following:
Would that I could afford two of these:
I know they'll be slow, but showin' up at & shootin' a CAS match with these'd earn untold style points!!!

Really? Really? You know you can't carry those in holsters. Must just stuff them in a red sash. 36s?

Re: Not a Levergun...
I remember when I was a kid reading about a Colt Paterson being handed in to the police, during an amnesty, luckily a British copper recognised it and saved it from destruction. I have often thought of buying a reproduction Paterson as I had so much fun with my other cap n ball revolvers.

Too perty to shoot?. Yep, long red sash tied on the right side with tails halfway to the knees. Gun stuffed at "appendix carry" location with a Bowie knife on the left hip. Leather vest festooned with silver conchos. Vaquero boots with charro spurs and a wide brimmed Stetson and a 24" quirt on the right wrist. Cool beyond measure...

Pretty snazzy Griff.......yes, you will get top accolades at the match for such possessions. I bet back in the day it was a little dangerous to load those cylinders when they were hot.
I once brought my pair of original cased Texas Patersons to a match and the guns loved shooting them ....throwing them around in the dirt.....borrowing them for hammers..etc.....they were a little rough on them so I told them to use my 1847 Walkers.
I've never even touched an original Paterson or Walker. Have handled plenty of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Dragoons though.---6

Griff , Aren't the patersons five shooters ? How can you go to the line with the hammer down on an empty chamber and still shoot a normal stage of ten pistol shots ?

You put the hammer down between chambers. Shooter's Handbook, pg 13.Chuck 100 yd wrote: ↑Fri May 11, 2018 12:48 pmGriff , Aren't the patersons five shooters ? How can you go to the line with the hammer down on an empty chamber and still shoot a normal stage of ten pistol shots ?
But, you have to charge the cylinder with powder, ball & either wad or grease off the gun... unless you use the loading tool that comes with each gun... who's pivot point is stiffer'n than your pencil full of lead!!! The other, (I'm sure someone with scream about safety thing), is that you have to cap the nipples thru the hammer slot... but both my in-line and snail capper fit in there!
I was figurin' on usin' my regular BP cylinder loader for tomorrow's match... but I can't find it... might have to spend all day makin' one, or lookin' for it... then go to the shoot on Sunday!
To load "on the gun", you remove the barrel, pour in powder in each chamber, insert wad (I use lubed wonder wads between powder & ball), then put the flat, end of the loading tool in the wedge slot, and force the ball in the chamber, all while balancing the gun on the heel of the grip, keepin it "sorta upright" and the chamber aligned while it's on half cock... Repeat four more times, re-install the barrel, the do the cappin process... and finally, you can wait for the Comanches or Kiowas, or some such... probably just steel silhouettes in today's world! Unscrewing the round end of the loading tool, you have a nipple arrogant idiot and wrench... Kinda handy... if you don't loose the loading tool...

Six, if you ever get to Bartlesville Oklahoma, go to Woolaroc and see the best collection of Patersons in the world.Sixgun wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 2:12 pm Pretty snazzy Griff.......yes, you will get top accolades at the match for such possessions.
