Daughter runs her business on the cell phone, so I cut her a little slack.

I've been almost hit 3 times in intersections by idiots texting while driving and running a red light. My sister actually was hit from behind at an intersection while stopped at a red light by a teenager who was texting. She happened to see him coming in her rear view but she was trapped by vehicle in front of her. She honked a couple times but he could not stop in time. She was ready to tear his head off. Fortunately she was driving her husbands truck so much more damage to perpetrator's vehicle. My son was almost hit twice while in a across walk by idiots texting while driving and running red lights. Fortunately he's very observant so avoided getting hit. DON'T TEXT WHILE DRIVING! :x

Well I reckon this is what some folks call progress.

I've said this before....I still don't own a cell phone...nor any kind of a credit/debit card.

I'm aggravated enough with the landline.

While I'm sitting here watching our Marines destroying the Japs in Iwo Jima on the Military History Channel, my wife is on her cell phone flipping away.----6

Not to copy Six but...
I've said this before-
Make the drinking age 18, lets them get it out of their system.
Make the DRIVING age 21, they hopefully have matured some.
Make the voting age 35, that way they have 'seen' how things really are.
With that said, a very simple fix for texting and driving. I'm sure We have the technology to prevent text messages from working while in a vehicle. As soon as the key is turned the text ability gets turned off brought Bluetooth. Granted it would only work with newer vehicles but most these kids are driving new anyway!

Yea Gunny....I like the one about the voting age at 35. Winston Churchill said it best, "If your a Conservative when your young, you have no heart.........if your a Liberal when your old, you have no brains."-----6

I've said for years the whole phone/text problem won't be solved until cars are built to be rolling Faraday cages.

There are reasons why that the guy is hailed as a genius.

I've read that they lose a dozen or so people a year in Japan - walking off train
platforms while engaged with what I call, "electronic crib toys."

It was on our local news last week they were talking of banning texting while walking. Yep, you be surprised what you walk into or in front of when not paying attention. Next thing you know you only be allowed to use them at home.

My younger brother was hit from behind Thursday while he was waiting to make a left turn. The woman who hit him from behind didn't even hit the brakes. 40 mph zone. My brother had a concussion, whiplash, shoulder injuries, was knocked unconscious, and may have other injuries. The other driver was on her smart phone.

I got rear ended by a smartphone user while in my Semi with an loaded 8000 gal water tanker stopped waiting to cross a highway in Wyoming. Hardly felt the impact, but it wrecked his pickup.
